End on an era.... for a few months anyway

Hopefully it will be the first and last emmigration party, but due to Eoin O Briens departing at the end of the month to Canada there was a serious need for a few drinks amoung Sportsworld members to mark the moment. There where cameras on the night but not good photographers or well behaved people but I guess no camera can capture the enjoyment of bouncing to Rage Against The Machines 'Killing in the Name of ' or just sitting back with a drink and laughing about the stupid things. Considering the number of christmas parties people have to go to and the cold weather it was a good turnout and a great night and hopefully it wont be too long until we have to have another night out celebrating the return of Eoiney Pholonie.

Canada Calls

Eoin is off to Canada.

What was his last (for now) Running Club thought?
It was “How can we make it a better Club?”

This is what natural leaders do.
From my remote perch I have watched as Eoin quietly changed and shaped the direction of our website and our Club.

In my work, nothing gives me (and my colleagues) more pleasure than to see youth emerge and begin to take the reins.
Sometimes the old road runs out and new paths need to be cut.
Eoin has been a path finder and a leading light.

Though many will ‘think’ it, few will express it.
On behalf of the Club, I’d like to say Thank You Eoin.
Thank You for taking ownership, for leading and for quietly bringing us to a better place.

Canada will be our loss and their gain.
We won’t quite say ‘Goodbye’ We will say Thank You and See You soon.
